AMD Drivers Might VOID Your CPU Warranty?

With ryzen 2000 we got XFR 2 and precision boost 2. XFR 2 was basically a more tuned version of the original. A relationship between Clocks, power and temperature. And precision boost 2 brought in a more tapered boost algorithm. Instead of only boosting 2 cores, the boost was spread out more throughout all the cores.

With the same generation, they introduced precision boost Overdrive. AMD’s one click overclocking feature. Now this is where things got interesting. It allowed the CPU to run at higher clocks and higher power. Higher than the manufacturers specification. And you know what overclocking does to your CPU ? Well besides better performance.. Well it voids your warranty. Or as AMD puts it “Because Precision Boost Overdrive enables operation of the processor outside of specifications and in excess of factory settings, use of the feature invalidates the AMD product warranty and may also void warranties offered by the system manufacturer or retailer.”

Now what if I told you that If you own an AMD GPU and CPU, and you updated your GPU drivers recently… You might just have voided your CPU’s warranty ? Well, That’s because according to Igor’s lab, AMD’s adrenalin Radeon Software actually Alters CPU Settings Without you knowing. It can make your system unstable. Your overclock unstable, your games unstable and your undervolt unstable.
